Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Signal High) —– A Canadian (Toronto) police detective is facing theft (over and under $5,000), breach of trust, failing to stop after an accident, obstructing justice, and fleeing from a peace officer charges in relation to an alleged drunk driving incident that led to the discovery of illicit drugs, on duty.

Toronto Police Detective Constable Brian Sukhram, 38, a fourteen year veteran of the force, and member of the narcotics squad has been suspended without pay.  He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on September 4.  The union representing rank and file Toronto Police officers refused to comment.
