Signal High News Corporation is actively recruiting Account Executives and Group Heads (leadership) for its growing sales division (advertising sales, content licensing).  We are a small, alternative news agency with six online publications [more], digital radio [more] and studio news programming [more].  Commercial excellence is achieved through monetization — the sale of advertising, promotion and sponsorship, content licensing, and other similar ventures.  We are a proud member of the free press, active in the relentless pursuit of truth [more].  We investigate and report news that matters.

This is a ‘work-from-field’, contract position.  English essential.

 

Position Objectives

 

Account Executives are the bridge between our customers, and our customers’ customers.  They propel the ship forward.  They keep us pointed in the right direction.

The successful candidate(s) will:

  • seek out and establish new customer accounts;
  • explore customer needs, match to perpetual advertising solutions;
  • advise customers, make proposals, and negotiate contracts;
  • maintain mutually profitable relationships;
  • give feedback to other divisions.

Group Heads have added responsibility:

  • lead and motivate a team of Account Executives;
  • coordinate distribution of incoming leads;
  • devise and execute challenges, competitions, bonus programs;
  • directly superintend contract negotiations;
  • execute a higher degree of financial authority;
  • maintaining positive, forward moving momentum.

Account Executives and Group Heads operate in a lead protected environment, with available territory or market segment exclusion.  We will consider agency proposals.  Account Executives account to Group Heads who, in turn, account to the executive.

Successful candidates are confident, motivated, competitive, and enthusiastic.  They are organized, goal-oriented, self-initiating, and independent performers.  These roles require organization, collaboration, hard work, active listening, and attention to detail.

Knowledge/Experience Prerequisites:
(in addition to the minimum requirements listed here)

  • understanding of advertising, suggestion, persuasion, etc;
  • excellent negotiating skills, with emphasis on closing deals;
  • understanding of sales models and basic selling techniques;
  • experience building proposals, pitching ideas, building consensus;
  • solid understanding of how business relationships are built.

This position does not require a seasoned veteran with thousands of business contacts; however, establishing a customer base requires a lot of hard work.  Some sales or service experience preferred.  Established relationships with potential customers preferred, even in lateral markets.

Important!  Account Executive compensation is based solely on percentage of sales, bonuses, challenges, etc.  The rate is negotiable within range based on experience at the time of onboarding, and success in executing within the first three months of engagement.  Contracts may be renegotiated after that three-month period.  This is a lot of hard work, but it can be very rewarding.

Account Executives enjoy a great degree of autonomy, with lead protection and territorial exclusions.  Support from Group Heads and other business units includes incoming leads, a degree of financial flexibility, dedicated advertising space, flexibility and support in contract negotiations, as well as challenges, competitions, awards, and more.  We also consider agency representation proposals.
