Hornsby, New South Wales, Australia (Signal High) —– A New South Wales (Australia) police officer has been charged with multiple counts of possessing child abuse material, possessing bestiality material, misconduct in public office, and access/modify restricted data held in computer.
Senior Constable Mitchell Leslie, 38, has been suspended without pay and is scheduled to appear in court September 10. Leslie appeared before a Hornsby magistrate and was denied bail due to “unacceptable risk.” Leslie was found to be in possession of “potentially over 200,000 images,” all on his personal laptop and cell phone.
Imogen Hogan, Leslie’s lawyer, argued for bail, claiming that Leslie is receiving mental health treatment and intended to be transferred to an in-patient program for post-traumatic stress disorder. Hogan also raised concerns over Leslie’s security, in that he had arrested members of outlaw motorcycle gangs. The magistrate would have none of it.
