Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (Signal High) —– A veteran Canadian (Winnipeg) police officer has been charged with a slew of serious criminal offences including committing indignity to human remains, trafficking of a control substance, obstruction of justice, and knowingly distributing an intimate image. His bail hearing was adjourned (postponed) so, for now, he remains in custody.
Important! It is alleged that a Canadian judge has imposed a partial publication ban on this matter. Signal High News Corporation is a U.S. news media company, and we are not subject to Canadian gag orders. We will decide on a piece-by-piece basis, in accordance with our own policies and practices, what to publish, when, how, etc. We will never tolerate the imposition of gag orders to suppress the publication of police wrongdoing, not to suggest this to be the case. We are steadfastly committed to the relentless pursuit of truth. |
Investigators suspect Winnipeg Police Constable Elston Bostock conducted around eighty-four illicit drug transactions between January 2016 and November 2024, including cocaine, oxycodone and amphetamine. Police found cocaine and psilocybin in Bostock’s locker at the East District police station. Bostock is further accused of sharing photographic images of a deceased woman (partially clothed) and disclosing confidential police information. Bostock was last year charged with breach of trust, theft under $5,000, unlawfully being in a dwelling, and obstructing a peace officer.
Constable Vernon Strutinsky, a fifteen-year veteran of the Calgary Police, was also arrested in connection with this incident. He has been charged of breaking and entering to commit extortion, and breach of trust. Constables Jonathan Kiazyk and Matthew Kadyniuk were also charged with breach of trust, and other offences.
Police told another news media agency that they attended the 300 block of Mountain Avenue on March 16, 2023, in a marked cruiser and in uniform, and entered a home, where they evicted the residents in the unit without authorization, on behalf of someone Bostock knew.
Bostock was granted the Governor General’s Police Exemplary Service Award in 2024. Measures are being taken to revoke the award. The police chief has vowed to restore public confidence. This writer has been unable to find any evidence to suggest they had that in the first place.
