Registration Process

Great to hear you’re interested in joining us. This really is a great place to be and it will be awesome to have you on board. The application/registration process is simple, straight-forward and entirely confidential, regardless of outcome. It is done pretty much online, so there is no need for lengthy paper forms, notarized photos, etc. Once you have everything you need it should take less than twenty minutes to complete the application, and less than a week to conclude the process.

STEP ONE – READ, READ, READ

It is vitally important you know as much as possible about us before you make the decision to sign up, and the best place to find information is on our web site. Please take your time and carefully read through the entire site. Pay special attention to the About and Join Us sections. You are welcome to contact us with any questions: people@signalhigh.news.

STEP TWO – GATHER WHAT YOU NEED

Here is what you should have before you begin the application:

  • one piece of government or institution issued identification (scanned);
  • one recently taken photograph for your credentials, good quality (scanned);
  • the name you wish to use if not your real name, and evidence it is not already used/in-use;
  • an e-mail address, postal address and telephone number;
  • a simple letter of reference from anyone who knows you (scanned);
  • sample(s) of your work (may be a link or pasted text);
  • emergency contact(s) (name, address, phone) in case you are injured/arrested;
  • the way(s) by which you can receive payment (no details at this point);
  • basic information about the equipment you intend to use (and that you can use it);

You will be asked very respectful questions about your understanding of law, liability and whether you have a relationship with a lawyer (recommended), and your insurance arrangements. You be asked if you have a criminal record or adverse court orders. You will be asked about travel, etc.

STEP THREE – COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE APPLICATION

The application can be found here.

This should take no longer than twenty minutes, assuming you have everything you need.

After you complete the application and click Submit, you will get an automatically generated confirmation message that your application has been received. It may end up in your junk folder, so please check there as well as your inbox. If you do not receive this message within a reasonable time (a few hours), please contact helpdesk@signalhigh.news.

STEP FOUR – PROCESSING ON OUR END

We will review your application for completeness and assess the information provided. We may take additional steps to verify your submission. We may contact you directly by e-mail or telephone. We will notify you of our decision by e-mail. Keep an eye on your junk folder, watch for people@signalhigh.news.

STEP FIVE – ONBOARDING

We will send you an onboarding package by e-mail. This package contains important learning material and documents that have to be signed and returned. This is all done digitally. Onboarding is mandatory; however, it does not take long and is entirely self-paced. There is no compensation for onboarding.

STEP SIX – MEETING WITH MANAGEMENT

You will be scheduled for a brief meeting (video or telephone conference) with one of our senior managers. This is an opportunity to ensure completion of the onboarding checklist and officially invite you to the company.

STEP SEVEN – CODES AND CREDENTIALS

You will be added to our internal systems and a list of codes will be securely transmitted. Your credentials will be sent. You will be asked to confirm your access to each of the systems we use and to take a look through our shop (journalists can buy items at cost). It is possible that a mentor or shadow arrangement will be established and follow-up dates set with management.

This completes the process.
