/PG/ Paris [France] (Signal High) for BadCop.Online —– Three French police officers have been charged in the killing of Cédric Chouviat, the man beaten and choked to death in January 2020. Judges found that the actions taken by the officers were “inappropriate, negligent and imprudent.”
Chouviat was heard saying “J’etouffe!” – French for “I am suffocating” or “I can’t breathe.” He died in hospital just days later, an autopsy showing a broken larynx. He worked as a delivery courier to support his wife and five children.
Many believe the French Gendarmerie (French Police) have a well-earned reputation as being absolutely vicious – known for gang-style intimidation and bully tactics, stripping people of the few rights they enjoy in France, and concealing their corrupt practices. It is against French law to identify police officers who commit crimes.
Some suggest that the conduct of the French police has contributed to the decline in tourism. Some suggest that the charges laid against these police officers are little more than window dressing, the appearance of justice.
