Leadership Philosophy

Good leadership knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. It is not a license to do less, but a responsibility to do more. While the bureaucrats, dictators, and politicians of the world say “Go,” our leaders say “Let’s Go!!”

Everything we do is in the relentless pursuit of truth.

Our leaders account through a flat structure, putting resources and decisioning authority as close to the front line as possible.  Like most small business organizations, we have a lot of work to do and very few people to do it.

So let’s get to work.

Signal High News Corporation is driven by two major divisions, News and Sales — each led by a senior executive.  They are supported by five smaller divisions.  The following chart shows our organization by management function.  This is not a communications tree or full organizational chart as many positions are double-hatted, anticipatory, staffed part-time, contracted, or through community engagement.

History

August 2017 – Alternative News Wire

Signal High News Corporation started as Signal High Networks Inc. in Niagara Falls, Canada, on August 9, 2017.  It operated an alternative news wire that connected journalists with news sources.  Focused on government corruption and abuses of power, the technologies enabled sharing and collaboration between users.  Largely unknown to the public, the network was supported by professional and early citizen journalists alike, including members of the now-defunct Student Press Information Exchange (the SPIE network).

March 2018 – Expanding the Wire, Reporting the News

In 2018, Signal High expanded the wire to include news specific to law enforcement and business sectors.  This is when Signal High started to build its own investigative reporting capability, putting its own work on the wire and selling research and news products to other agencies.

January 2020 – Broadcasting and Digital Media

In early 2020, Signal High began experimenting with streaming and social media platforms.  It established production and broadcast studios in New York City, and licensed two digital broadcast stations.  The company was developing the news format that would later become BadCop.Online and content was sporadically broadcast over WXRE-DB (Signal High Radio) and WXFS-DB (Signal High Studio).  Social media and independent citizen journalists were the trend, and the wire started to phase out, pointing Signal High to the U.S. market.

February 2021 – BadCop.Online

On February 26, 2021, Signal High launched BadCop.Online, a streaming news platform focused entirely on police corruption, misconduct, incidents of brutality, and cover-ups.  Extensive coverage was given to the police executions, mass riots, and anti-police movements prevalent at the time.  Signal High leveraged the success of BadCop into other online publications.  Signal High was founded as a news wire, not an activist group; however, it was quickly earning a reputation as being aggressive in the pursuit of truth.

July 2021 – Into the United States

On July 12, 2021, Signal High News Corporation was incorporated under the laws of the first state.  Maintaining its studios in New York, it established a headquarters in Delaware and closed the Canadian operation.  The wire it had started five years before was shut down.  Signal High was no longer a network for news, it was a news agency in and of itself.  It launched additional ‘.Online’ publications – including BadBusiness, BadMedicine, BadMoney, BadSchool, and PowerGames – each focusing on sector-specific investigative reporting.  In just a few short years, Signal High had transformed from a small basement operation into an accredited news and information broadcaster.  New logos and identifiers were introduced, designed by Kim Trainer of New York (by competition).

2022 – Consolidation

In 2022, Signal High consolidated newsroom, assignment desk, editing, and content publishing functions into a single, centralized structure.  News content from the publications was presented through WXRE and WXFS, and the company started recruiting overseas journalists laying the ground work for the news bureau model.  It established its Outreach and Interaction executive portfolio to engage readers, listeners, viewers, and subscribers.  In keeping with tradition, Signal High held a logo and identifier design competition, selecting the work of Sandy Keller (Florida).

March 2024 – International Focus

By March, 2024, Signal High had established news bureaus in Toronto and London.  It started to publish select articles in French and German.  Studies made clear that the domestic market wanted more international coverage taken from the U.S. perspective, and Signal High was up for the challenge.  The company focused on its online publications while navigating the regulatory frameworks attaching to foreign news agencies, as well as the technical challenges and content ownership debate that was enveloping podcasting at the time.

August 2025 – International Expansion, Unified Brand

By August 2025, Signal High was publishing more international news than domestic.  There was growing interest in the corruption, conflicts, and changing political landscapes in the Middle East, the Australasian Subcontinent, and Eastern Europe.  Signal High opened news bureaus in Berlin, Germany, and Sydney, Australia.  Consumer demand shifted from the multi-brand publication model to a single unified brand, and there were acquisition overtures from domestic interests.  Efforts began to package the online publication business with a view to sale.  The final branding commission was won by Robert Reimer of Washington, D.C. for ‘Old Meets New’.

February 2026 – Divestment and Reimagination

In early 2026, Signal High sold its multi-brand ‘.Online’ publishing portfolio — including BadCop, BadBusiness, BadMedicine, BadMoney, BadSchool, and PowerGames — to a private U.S. media concern. This transaction brought online print, digital radio, and studio news into one unified brand.  The company reorganized its category offering, opening space for news not previously reported and multi-language programming.  Signal High commenced a ‘reimagination’ of its digital broadcast platforms, and refined its client-focused advertising sales efforts.

Future Direction

Signal High is committed to building its overseas and international reporting, from the U.S. lens.  The company will continue to invest heavily in emerging technologies, to reimagine its digital radio and studio news programming.  It plans to expand its coverage through news bureaus, and incorporate specialist groups to cover complex matters.  It is exploring a twenty-four hour news station reporting on top global news items.  Signal High will continue to be responsive to the demands of its readers, viewers, listeners, and subscribers.
